How we do it
We start with the evidence, look at the whole system, design with the people who will use and deliver the solution, then help you tell the story. It's a human-centred approach, always pointed at a business outcome – change that lands and growth for your organisation.
Our approach
Start with the evidence
We start with what's already known. Your business data and past research, plus an environmental scan of your market, competitors, policy and social trends, give us a first pass – and a hypothesis to test.
We test that hypothesis with your own teams first, then with customers. Because the groundwork is done, our conversations with customers can go deeper – into what they really need and where the real costs and issues sit.
What this can include
Review of your data and past research
Environmental scan of market, competitor, policy and social trends
Testing the hypothesis with your teams
Interviews, observation and surveys with customers
Frameworks that show where the opportunities are
Consider big picture impacts
We map the service and the organisational system at the right level – high enough to cut across silos, detailed enough to find the root cause. That way, when change is delivered, there are fewer surprises.
Workplaces are complex. Technology, teams and processes overlap, and a fix in one place can create a problem somewhere else.
What this can include
Journey maps
Service blueprints and system maps
Root cause analysis
Operating model and process review
Design the future together
Data is good at telling us about the past. It takes creativity to imagine what's possible – but good design also has to work within the constraints of your organisation.
Through co-design, we bring customers, staff and stakeholders together to shape and test ideas early. Ideas get stronger, problems show up before you've spent money on them, and the people who have to make the change happen have helped shape it.
What this can include
Review of Co-design workshops data and past research
Concept development and testing
Testing ideas against what's desirable, feasible and viable
Prioritising what to do first
Share the story
A new approach only works if people understand it and know what it means for them. We turn the work into a clear, simple narrative for staff, senior leaders and boards.
Change doesn't have to happen all at once. We help you work out where to start – often with something small that shows results early – and build a practical, phased plan from there.
What this can include
Strategic narratives
Working out where to start
Roadmaps and phased delivery plans
Implementation and change planning
Executive and board presentations
How we work with you
Focused projects
Most of our projects run for around three months, scoped to the problem you need solved.
Inside your organisation
We often work inside your systems and alongside your teams, so what we learn stays with you.
Designed with delivery in mind
We've held operational and leadership roles, not just design roles. We design things that can actually be run.
Directly or with partners
We work with clients directly, and as part of larger teams through other consultancies.
Building your team's capability
We help your teams build their own skills in human-centred methods – from a one-day training session to working alongside them on a project.
Have a problem you’d like help solving?
